Hello, I need a grid map that works with stepped elevations like in Minecraft. I don’t need a LayeredGridMap because there are no caves or multiple walkable floor levels stacked on top of each other.
My game only features heights like mountains. Could you please tell me how to prevent interpolation in the grid, while still allowing entities to walk over these blocks?
Were I in your shoes I’d try and simply make my own connections between adjacent nodes on the XZ axis. There are some methods that help with iterating through the nodes such as GridNode.HasConnectionToAllEightNeighbors and of course GraphNode.Connect. I didn’t see any built in way for this. And truthfully I’d doubt the success rate of this idea too.
Overall I think you’re better off writing your own Graph Generator altogether if you’re up for the challenge. If not I think the earlier idea may just work better for you.
There’s also hacky options like have a grid that’s actually above entire map and then you have your character walk along the ground under those points.
